The Story
Six year-old Priyanath imagines himself to be a superhero taking down imaginary villains with his extraordinary powers. Fighting pretend bad guys is easy. But when he learns of a real danger near his home, Priyanath must decide if he’s actually got what it takes to be a real life superhero. And one ominous night will determine his fate. Will young Priyanath become a hero or fall victim to the danger around him?

The Heart of the Film
Priyanath is a fun, inspirational family film. Priyanath, our young protagonist in the film, imagines himself to be a superhero. And we believe there’s a bit of Priyanath in us all. After all, who doesn’t want to be a superhero - to be smarter, stronger, mightier, bolder and more super than we already are? Sure, we may not be able to defy physics by running faster than a speeding bullet, but each of us has an innate ability to be good, noble, courageous, radiant, powerful, selfless and to live beyond our imagined limitations. As filmmakers, our superhero power is to the ability to tell stories that entertain, inspire and help us remember how mighty we all are - stories like Priyanath!

OUR INSPIRATION
The short film Priyanath is inspired by true events. The character Priyanath is based on Priyanath Karar who was born in Serampore, India in 1855. After entering the monastic Swami Order, he became the great Swami Sri Yukteswar.
He is the guru of Paramahansa Yogananda, author of the spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi. Yogananda is considered “one of the preeminent spiritual figures of modern times.”
